The Sober Lens

See more. Feel more. Live more.

The Sober Lens is an editorial perspective on travel, place, food, culture, intentional living and the small moments worth noticing.

After nearly three decades of sobriety, I’ve realized that sobriety gave me more than a life without alcohol. It gave me a different way of seeing the world. It’s given me freedom, in ways that are unexplainable to most.

This isn’t another sobriety newsletter. Some weeks I’ll write about sobriety, others mindfulness or why the nervous system is the system to pay attention to most. Other weeks we’ll wander through San Francisco, travel somewhere new, discover a restaurant, a bookstore, a beautiful hotel, a ritual, a person or an ordinary moment that deserves a second look.

You don’t have to be sober to be here. The Sober Lens is for anyone interested in moving through life with a little more attention and intention.

It is also the editorial home of Sober in San Francisco, my intentional travel project—and eventually, the larger Sober In… world.

The cities will change. The lens won’t.

I’m Lane Kennedy—author, mindfulness and meditation teacher, longtime San Franciscan and nearly three decades sober.

I’m interested in what happens when we stop rushing past our lives long enough to actually see them.

Welcome to The Sober Lens.

See more. Feel more. Live more.
